Brian Kessler

One Mission Society missionary Brian Kessler serves as the director of Information Systems for Every Community for Christ (ECC), the church multiplication catalyst for OMS. In this role, he oversees worldwide ministry outcomes, implements IT tools and processes, and serves as publisher of Train & Multiply (T&M). As T&M publisher, he supervises translation projects and IT product development, and consults on training and other projects related to T&M and Village Church Planting in Africa.

Brian and his wife Christie, with their children Amber and Dustin, went to Apatity, Russia (north of the Arctic Circle), in 1997, where they served with OMS for a year as a part of CoMission. They trained public school teachers in a morals and ethics curriculum, led Bible discussion groups, and led a children’s ministry.

The next two years, they served at the OMS World Headquarters, where Brian helped coordinate short-term ministry teams to OMS fields for Men for Missions. Christie served as editor for Action magazine, an MFM publication published three times per year.

They returned to Russia in September 2000 to assist a church in Rostov-na-Donu, Russia, and then moved to Moscow in 2001. Brian assisted with church-planting efforts and later became the administrator for the field. Christie served as the Learning Support Center coordinator at Hinkson Christian Academy, where she assisted students with learning difficulties. They also were actively involved in an international church where Brian led worship. In June 2009, they returned to the United States for their first year-long home assignment.

After a year of home assignment and continuing with administrative duties for the OMS Russia field, Brian joined the international team of OMS’ Every Community for Christ ministry. ECC trains brothers and sisters in more than 50 countries to plant healthy churches that will multiply, using multiple processes based on basic biblical principles.

Christie now uses her training and experience to coordinate special education teachers for Indiana Connections Academy, a virtual public school, which has grown to more than 5,000 students statewide. Amber lives in Chicago, Illinois, and works for Pearson, helping families to enroll students into a virtual public school environment. Dustin lives north of Indianapolis and works for a company that optimizes and manages online businesses.

Before joining OMS, the Kessler family lived in Hamilton County, Indiana. Brian worked in the health insurance industry. Christie worked with individuals with special needs. In their home church, Brian served as worship leader, Christie served in children’s ministry, and together they were involved in small group ministry.
