Determined to root human trafficking out of his community, a man attended OMS’ human trafficking prevention training in Kiteezi, Uganda.
During the training, his eyes were opened to see that young men in his community were vulnerable to becoming involved in human trafficking because they were uneducated and unable to obtain good employment, forcing them to seek work overseas where traffickers can easily enslave them.
As the training went on, he was amazed to learn that every person has unique assets, skills, and resources to help those in their community who are vulnerable.
He wondered how God could use his skills to help these young men …
Then it occurred to him that his furniture making skills could be put to use!
He decided to begin training the young men in his community in carpentry and furniture making skills as a way to reduce their vulnerability to human trafficking.
He opened a storefront and called the business Blessed Furniture.
At Blessed Furniture, these young men have learned to make beds and dressers, as well as more detailed woodworking like turning bowls and chalices on a lathe. They are making a good wage now and will soon have the skills to open their own businesses.
The activity around the small shop is all based on the love of Jesus Christ, and the message of the Gospel is being shared with each young man working there and many other people who pass by the shop.
This man was just one simple carpenter who was equipped at one training and now he is personally equipping each employee to reach many for Christ through their new businesses!
You may just be one person, but you can be uniquely used to reach many for Christ.
