Rod and Jan Dormer
Missionary Account: #803602Biblical depth and effectiveness in ministry—this is Rod and Jan Dormer’s focus as members of the Theological Education Team of One Mission Society. They want to see the kingdom of God grow, not only in size but also in spiritual maturity, by training those who can teach others (2 Timothy 2:2). They invest in national leaders who can multiply themselves and strengthen the Church. They serve by helping with strategic vision and leadership development, focusing on transformational teaching and discipleship to help people become fully devoted followers of Christ.
Rod and Jan began their ministry with OMS in 1995 and have served in the South Pacific, Brazil, and Kenya, primarily with OMS Bible colleges. The Dormers have two daughters and two sons-in-law, Danna Jo and Shogo Matsuki and Jenna and Brendan Strahm. Jan also grew up in Brazil, as the daughter of OMS missionaries Max and Dixie Edwards.
Rod has a doctor in ministry degree, focused on organizational leadership. His dissertation studied the global church. He teaches intensive classes in various countries, primarily in Bible colleges that have started master’s degree programs. He also acts as a consultant in the areas of program and institutional development.
Jan has an educational doctorate degree and teaches TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in the Education Department at Messiah College in Pennsylvania. She also ministers part time on the OMS Theological team in the areas of TESOL and education. She recently authored two books: Teaching English in Missions: Effectiveness and Integrity, published by William Carey Library, and What School Leaders Need To Know About English Learners, published by TESOL.
