Betsy Shroyer

Betsy lives on a farm in Indiana with her husband Jerry. He operates a grain farm and also raises cattle. Jerry and Betsy are blessed with three sons: James, Josh, and Jordan.

Professionally, she’s a graduate of Ball State University, with a degree in accounting and is a licensed CPA in Indiana. After graduating from Ball State, she began her career with the Indiana Department of Revenue. After 36.5 years, her career with the IDR ends as she answers the call from the Lord to enter full-time Christian ministry.

Betsy accepted Jesus when she was 12 years old. She was very timid. As a young person and into adulthood, she taught Sunday school classes and led a Bible study. After having children, Betsy assisted in other children’s ministries, as well as leading the children’s Bible quiz teams. Jerry and Betsy also taught Sunday school.

Fast forward to 2017, Betsy remembers asking God for a change in her life! “Be careful what you pray for! God heard my prayer. He is faithful,” shared Betsy.

Deuteronomy 7:9 “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.”

On April 25, 2017, Betsy fell at work at broke her left shoulder. God used that time to draw her closer to him! Shortly after returning to work, Betsy’s work responsibilities were adjusted. This change allowed her to continue her passion to study God’s Word and lead a Bible study.

In the fall of 2017, Betsy began working on the mission committee at church. Soon after, she began to chair the committee. In spring of 2018, she heard about the “Illuminate” missions conference sponsored by OMS. She thought that would be a great opportunity to get information on hosting a missions conference at her church and gain general mission information.

At that conference, Betsy heard God calling her to short-term missions.

Acts 1:8: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

In February 2019, Betsy participated on an OMS short-term mission trip to Cap Haiten, Haiti. Upon arrival in Haiti, OMS missionary, Colleen Taylor, learned that Betsy was an accountant and encouraged Betsy in her missionary journey, reminding her repeatedly about the need for accountants on the mission field.

The Haiti trip affirmed Betsy’s call to work in missions.

When she arrived back home, her church had a missions conference with speakers from OMS. The speaker mentioned the need for accountants in the mission field. Betsy got the message and said yes!

Jeremiah 29:11-13: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

After returning her next short-term trip to Colombia, the CFO of OMS and Betsy began  volunteering with OMS in Finance.

In 2021, Betsy traveled to Louisiana to work on a team helping with disaster relief. During that time, the Holy Spirit provided clear direction that it was time to bring her career with the IDR to a close. She wanted to serve where she could make an eternal difference.

In August 2021, Betsy started as chief financial officer (CFO) for One Mission Society. She is deeply honored to serve as CFO and gives God all the glory for his work in her life.

Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
