Somos Nós - Helping Hands

Somos Nós - Helping Hands (It is us) is a compassion ministry in Maputo, Mozambique, led by OMS UK missionaries, Melvin and Sharon Kelly.

Purpose:

• To mobilize believers from our churches (in Mozambique) to be a helping hand for people with disabilities in our communities.
• Listen, pray, and share the hope of the Gospel with people with disabilities and their families.

How:

• Visit people with disabilities in their homes.
• Bless people with a wheelchair, walking aid, or crutches.
• Maintain, repair, and make alterations to wheelchairs.
• Have special programs (special services, craft lessons) for people with disabilities and invite them to come.
• Our prayer is that the neediest and most marginalized in the community will be touched by the body of Christ, the hands and feet of Jesus!

$8.50 - Provide a Bible to someone with disability or a solar-powered audio Bible for those with a sight-impairment or limited literacy ability.

$24 - Gift a basket of basic necessities to someone like Maria who provides foster care for a child living with disability.

$42 - Transform the life of someone like Isabel by covering the cost to ship and import a secondhand wheelchair from the US or UK to Mozambique.

$48 Cover a week’s wage for Constantino who lives with disability as he serves his community by fitting and repairing wheelchairs.

$60 - Extend the life of a wheelchair in Mozambique by covering the cost of repair.

$95 - Mobilise a Church to engage with people with disability in their neighbourhoods by covering the cost of a training session.

$143 - Inspire a lifetime of transformational service by gifting one month scholarship and internship for a Mozambican to study Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or Public Health at University.  Participants like Regina will be mentored and discipled by our Helping Hands team and serve at least one day per week in the Helping Hands ministry.

$190 - Mobilise a Church to engage with people with disability in their neighbourhoods by covering the cost of two training sessions.

$300 - Provide an All-terrain or someone living with disability in Mozambique.
