The Isaan region is the poorest region of Thailand, with many people struggling under the weight of debt. This is a long-term role that will involve initiating the team's community development work in Isaan. This role will suit applicants who are excited to invest time in relationships with Isaan people, and who are passionate about working alongside communities to bring the gospel holistically.
This role will also incorporate sustainable farming initiatives. This position integrates agribusiness development with ministry, using agriculture as both a practical training platform and a means of income generation. The role is designed to prepare leaders for bi-vocational ministry, enabling them to support themselves while advancing church-planting and discipleship efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This is a support-based position that involves raising financial support through ministry partners for salary and other benefits.
This role will also incorporate sustainable farming initiatives. This position integrates agribusiness development with ministry, using agriculture as both a practical training platform and a means of income generation. The role is designed to prepare leaders for bi-vocational ministry, enabling them to support themselves while advancing church-planting and discipleship efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Engaging in Thai language studies with the intent on gaining a high level of proficiency
- Regularly meeting with community members to gain insight into their issues and concerns
- Utilize sustainable farming initiatives
- Conducting surveys and gathering data on community needs
- Evaluating the neighborhood's requirements to determine appropriate action plans
- Liaising with OMS missionaries in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai
- Networking with other development ministries across Thailand
- Empower individuals, families, and entire communities
- Monitoring project completion, impact, and results
- Supporting the gospel work of the field
- Infusing the love of Christ into all aspects of their work
- The ability to engage with diverse groups of people
- An understanding of approaches that focus on the strengths and assets of people and communities
- Knowledge of running projects and reporting
- Knowledge of applying for grants and report writing
- An in-depth understanding of policies that affect target groups
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including report writing
- Commitment and enthusiasm
- Good listening skills
- Advocacy and networking skills
- The ability to interpret, analyze and present data
- Researching skills and the ability to write reports
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in community development preferred
- Mission experience and/or cross-cultural experience a plus
