Jim and Sue Smith

In 1983, God called Jim and Sue Smith from their busy secular careers in business and nursing to serve as missionaries with One Mission Society in Ecuador, South America. For 19 years, they served the Lord and the Ecuadorian people through a variety of ministries, including discipleship, church planting, women and children’s ministries, medical ministry, theological education, administration, MK dorm parenting, and as liaisons to the Association of National Churches in the southern mountain and jungle districts.

In May 2004, they returned to the United States to assume the positions of director of Missionary and Family Life (missionary care) and coordinator of women’s ministries at OMS World Headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana.

In August 2014, they joined the Men for Missions (MFM) staff at One Mission Society World Headquarters, doing the follow-up with short-term MFM teams. They also championed MFM teams to Colombia and Ecuador and served as consultants to teams going to Latin America.

In April 2019, Jim joined the team in the Finance Department at the OMS World Headquarters where he serves as the assistant to the international accountant and grant compliance officer.

Jim holds degrees from Eastern Kentucky University (BBA), Asbury Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and Columbia Biblical Seminary (D.Min.). Sue is a graduate in nursing from Midway College in Midway, Kentucky.

The Smiths have two married daughters, Allison and Suzanne.
