James Kigamwa
Missionary Account: #802539James serves with an OMS partner ministry, as the director of Bridge to Reading (B2R). The program has initiated outreach in the Great Lakes region of Africa and is expanding into West Africa. James’ overall ministry involves assisting churches to establish basic literacy programs in local languages. Specifically, he works with communities to develop Scripture-based literacy curricula in local languages and trains literacy tutors and trainers in skills of teaching reading and writing.
In the world today, it is estimated that there are about 750 million adults who cannot read or write in any language. Churches around the world are responding to this challenge by establishing church-based reading programs.
James has served in literacy ministries for more than 20 years and has visited and worked in close to 20 African countries. He is married to Susan, and they have two daughters.
