Devastating Fire Ravages the Rohingya Refugee Camp
On March 22, a devastating fire swept through parts of the largest refugee camp in the world (Cox’s Bazar), where nearly a million Rohingya people live in crowded conditions in southwestern Bangladesh. The massive fire left 15 people dead, hundreds injured or missing, at least 45,000 homeless, and nearly 127,000 adversely affected. Many of these refugees lost the little that they had to survive in extremely challenging conditions. The fire, caused by a gas cylinder explosion, destroyed several food distribution sites, health centers, and wells dug to provide clean water.
Our Bangladeshi ministry partners, a team of 40 experts in relief work, have helped drill more than 200 clean water wells and ministered through a life-giving feeding program. Within hours of the fire, they arrived, helping with clean-up efforts coordinated by the UN. They sadly discovered that 5 of their 11 food distribution centers were destroyed.
In partnership with Mercy, OMS needs your help in this desperate situation. Can you help provide emergency relief?
A gift of $65 will provide food, water, cooking utensils, mosquito nets, blankets, and other life essentials for an entire family!
Thanks for demonstrating mercy, compassion, and grace.
