In one of the most dangerous areas of Morelia, Mexico, a man named Sacramento mocked his son for attending a Christian church. Coming from a background of abuse, mistreatment, and rejection of God, he had no interest in the Bible teachings his son was receiving.
Sacramento’s wife, however, was curious. She would ask their son about what he had learned at church, and eventually she began attending along with their other children. Sacramento thought they had lost their minds and become fanatics. There was much discord in their home, and at a time when he and his wife were fighting, she invited Sacramento to attend a special service. He agreed only to make peace with her. Yet, God had a greater plan, and Sacramento received Christ.
As he grew in his relationship with Jesus, he left behind the pain and self-hatred that had long defined his identity while growing up. Raised in a home where prostitution, child labor, and all kinds of abuse were allowed, he only knew brokenness. But now, in Jesus, his smile reflects forgiveness, love, and purpose. God’s grace has transformed him and his entire family.
Isn’t God the greatest storyteller of all time? It is a huge privilege to be part of his kingdom stories across the Latin America/Caribbean region.
