As part of my summer internship at the One Mission Society World Headquarters, I had the opportunity to participate in a nine-day mission trip to Colombia. Six interns chose to participate, and I was among them.
We spent time visiting ministries in Colombia, serving the community, doing street evangelism, and engaging in English ministry. We also visited the OMS-founded IGLEICO church denomination and met with the OMS field missionaries.
Going into the trip to Colombia, I knew street evangelism would be very outside my comfort zone. I was excited to try it, but I was also worried about how it would go and how everything would turn out.
During our street evangelism efforts, we walked through the community, knocking on doors and asking to share our story with the people. If they said yes, we would give a short testimony and a Gospel presentation using the EvangeCube. Before this day, I could not see how this would be fruitful because it felt as though we would be bothering the people. However, this was not the case at all.

The people in Colombia are the most welcoming I have ever met. They took the time to listen to us, and most of them were interested. I had the opportunity to share with many people how the work of Jesus Christ changed my life and how he wanted to rescue them as well.
This experience stretched me in many ways. The Lord opened my eyes to the fact that we cannot limit him in what he can do. I entered evangelism day doubting its significance, and the Lord showed me just how vital it was. God reminded me that he can do all things, and that we should not limit him based on our comfort levels.
Another day that was impactful to me was our English ministry day. My team and I spent the day teaching and practicing English with the translators. Their desire to grow in their English was inspiring to me, and the love they showed us was encouraging.
Going to Colombia was something I knew the Lord was calling me to do, but it required a huge step of faith for me and the other interns. Although it was challenging, it was incredibly rewarding to see all the Lord was doing there. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have experienced it firsthand and would encourage anyone with the opportunity to do so as well!
