This summer, I had the privilege of serving as the Communications intern at One Mission Society World Headquarters. I spent 10 weeks living and working on the OMS campus in Greenwood, Indiana. These weeks were both fulfilling and challenging, and they made a significant contribution to my growth. I was able to learn professionally, foster deep friendships, and most importantly, grow in my relationship with the Lord.
At the beginning of the summer, I came in with no expectations. I didn't know anyone, and I didn't know much about OMS either. I was walking into something completely unknown, but I am leaving feeling as though I am leaving people I have known for years.

All the summer interns stayed in the same apartment building, with three girls in my apartment and four in the apartment below me. From daily lunches together to impromptu Swig runs, we became very close. This was an extremely rewarding part of the summer, and I was so blessed by the time we spent together.
Being in an office for eight hours a day was new, but I adjusted quickly. I began to look forward to our weekly team prayer meetings, chatting with my colleagues, and learning all the Lord is doing through OMS. As the Communications intern, my responsibilities included writing blog posts, editing articles, and conducting research for one of our upcoming projects for the 125th anniversary. I have learned so much from the hands-on work I have been able to do, and I am grateful for the professional experience this internship has given me!
However, the thing I will miss most from this experience is the immense love we received from the people at OMS. The community made sure we felt cared for and had all the things we needed. Their great hospitality is something I have not experienced before. Many people opened their homes to us interns and provided us with a meal. I am deeply grateful for the relationships and memories formed through this kindness.
If you have the opportunity to intern at the One Mission Society World Headquarters, I encourage you to seize it. It will be a transformative summer, full of memories that will last a lifetime.
