This is blog 3 of 3 from the Taylor University short-term team that traveled to Budapest, Hungary, to serve alongside our OMS team.
During one of our Evensong’s, Kaia Mills shared her testimony regarding the ways she has seen God work on our trip. Her reflection is included in this post.
“When reflecting on where I’ve seen the hope of the Lord in action throughout this trip, a few things came to mind. I’ve seen this hope in the beauty of Budapest … in the quiet (or very loud) moments on the metro. In the snowfall that covered the city and the sunsets and sunrises. I’ve seen this hope in the way our OMS partners have welcomed us in with open arms, and the way they plan and intentionally seek to get to know each and every one of us. I see this hope through their stories and testimonies as they spend time sharing with us and through their wise answers to our many, many questions.
"I saw this hope at the Salvation Army, through Anna and her leadership and those we encountered there, all filled with a joy beyond my understanding. I saw this hope in the sweetness of our times at Selah, and through the laughter of our evening meetings. Through the small conversations with those at Forrai and ICSB. I see it at Riverside through the stories and prayers, which were shared there. But the place where the Lord has revealed His hope to me the most has been through every single person on our team. This hope shines through in the way that Clif and Julie have led, with their hearts to serve us and love on us in a way that makes feeling so far from home a little more like home. I have seen it in the way each team member has boldly shared stories and the ways the Lord has transformed our lives. I’ve seen it through the powerful prayers they each have prayed, through the humility they walk with, and through the worship they sing with hearts of such gratitude for the goodness of the Lord. Their servant’s heart and desire to not just be with, but truly know everyone on the team has been refreshing to my soul. The Lord has shown me hope in a way that I have never seen before through every day of this trip. Every person on this team has been a vessel in which the Lord could reveal this kind of hope to me in a way that I had no idea could exist. The Lord has been working through each of us in ways we are completely unaware of.”
