One Mission Society partners with missionaries, national leaders, and ministry projects across an 86-country footprint. We're seeking a dynamic, proven fundraising leader to guide and grow the team that funds this worldwide ministry as our next Senior Director of Development.

The ideal candidate brings a track record in major donor development and development team leadership, along with the relational skill to connect authentically with a wide range of donors and to coach a team to do the same. Above all, our Development Director cares deeply about building a team that helps major donors find meaningful ways to participate in the mission of God around the world through their giving.

This role calls for someone who can lead a development team with both a skilled hand and a heart of deep integrity by building strategy, systems, and people that turn generosity into global impact.

This person will serve at our Greenwood, IN Global Headquarters offices.



Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ and a member of an evangelical church.
  • Has a deep, personal walk with God that’s expressed in devotion to Christ and his mission, and that expresses itself in a grace-filled life, demonstrating integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness, as well as the fruit of the Spirit in daily living, is essential.
  • Demonstrated relational maturity: a self-directed individual who is culturally savvy, experienced in and excited about building a team culture, coaching, training, and mentoring.
  • Passionate and clear calling concerning OMS ministry and its vision and mission statement.
  • Clearly articulate and support the Biblical theology of giving.
  • Proven leadership with resource development experience and results in the nonprofit industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect and develop relationships with high-capacity prospective new donors.
  • Demonstrated success in a resource development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources).
  • Tangible experience in moves management, having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time.
  • Proven ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships.
  • Strategic vision with analytical ability and strong operational focus.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability: a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives.
  • Self-motivated in initiating contact with potential donors, as evidenced by building strong relationships and understanding how to work collaboratively.
  • Able to effectively communicate a case for supporting the ministries of OMS and comfortable with doing an “ask“ in the six-figure and up range, then closing the gift.
  • Possess high moral integrity and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Provide goals and objectives monthly that identify strategies and targeted asks for each advancement officer and the President, as well as him/herself.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the OMS President, COO of OMS USA, and the executive director of Global Ministries to develop the organization’s fundraising plan and priorities and to implement them. This includes setting clear Development team plans that ensure the ministry objectives of OMS Global can be funded.
  • Lead by example, as OMS USA’s chief fundraiser and friend raiser. The senior director of Development of OMS USA will have his/her own assigned donor relationships and prospective donor partnerships.
  • Actively assist the President, COO, and Board to maximize their impact with OMS USA donors and various other relationship-building efforts. Help set up the President’s efforts to cultivate and solicit gifts with donors, briefing him thoroughly in advance. Join the President on key major donor calls.
  • Participate in OMS USA and OMS Global Board meetings when requested by the President or COO of OMS USA.
  • Assume primary responsibility for the Development interface with OMS USA Marketing and Communications, helping to strengthen donor communications about the OMS Global message and opportunities to advance the OMS Global mission.
  • Raise the personal involvement level of current major donors.
  • Build strong relationships with the OMS Global Ministries Department, including relationships with other OMS Global entities around the world, OMS Global regional leaders, and OMS Global indigenous partnerships. This includes travel with OMS Global Ministries regional leaders and OMS Global entity leaders and interested current or prospective major investors.
  • Lead the Development Department’s budget process, based upon priorities established in consultation with the COO of OMS USA, CFO of OMS USA, and the executive team. Track actual vs. projected expense and revenue on a monthly basis and adjust Development efforts accordingly to stay within budget.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of fundraising best practices and attend seminars and conferences annually for personal growth and development.
  • Provide ongoing training for OMS USA and OMS Global leaders in the kinds of projects foundations and major donors may be interested in funding by educating OMS USA and OMS Global leaders on the key questions needing answers to write an excellent funding proposal, and the accountability and reporting requirements most foundations and major donors expect once a proposal has been funded.
  • Fulfill other tasks or duties as needed and requested by the President or COO of OMS USA.
  • Develop and supervise the OMS USA Development team toward steady capability to strengthen donor relationships, expand donor relationships, and raise financial resources for the ministry. Utilize outcomes-based goal-setting processes for each OMS USA Development team member to establish team and individual goals for each year.
  • Foster team expertise and maintain awareness of trends in the various areas of resource development and giving, to assist the President, the COO of OMS USA, and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities. The senior director of Development of OMS USA should actively cultivate a network of other advancement senior executives, helping him or her to keep abreast of industry best practices and also positioning and raising the OMS USA profile in the not-for-profit world.

Location: OMS Headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana.
Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000
