The One Mission Society Europe and Middle East region has a vision to transform lives in dynamic communities. You'll serve in your area of focus while being part of localized summer ministry experiences. You'll also be poured into by a team of missionaries as you learn more about your gifts and passions. Our hope for this experience is that you will grow in your relationship with God, expand your skill set, be more prepared to disciple people from other cultures, and perhaps discern a long-term call to missions and ministry.
Evangelize and disciple refugees, immigrants, and Italians on the streets of Catania, Sicily, and within the team’s ministry center through regular prayer walking, sharing your testimony, sharing the gospel, and facilitating discipleship groups, cookouts, games, and other activities.
During your time with Embark you will serve with One Mission Society, build relationships with immigrants and refugees, receive mentorship from experienced missionaries, work alongside a team of other like-minded OMS interns, expand and hone your skill set, and grow in your ministry approach to evangelism, discipleship, and communicating your testimony.

- Engage refugees and locals directly on the streets of Catania and within the team's ministry center.
- Learn Discipleship Making Movement (DMM) tools and processes.
- Share your testimony and the Gospel in simple, reproducible ways.
- Disciple new and existing individuals and groups who have expressed an interest in pursuing God through scripture stories by using the 3/3rds Group discovery Bible process.
- Participate in activities to engage individuals and groups of refugees, including games, cookouts, and other activities.
- Take first steps in planning ministry activities, navigating a new culture, and learning Italian.
- Willingness to push through the awkward and uncomfortableness and engage strangers in gospel conversations: listening to their stories, sharing your story, and sharing God's story.
Key Activities:
- Practical Training — pre-field disciple-making training in testimony-sharing, gospel presentation, and starting new Bible studies
Abiding in Christ — daily team rhythms of scripture and prayer - Prayer Walks — daily prayer through neighborhoods, for refugees, immigrants, and Sicilians
- Outreach in Catania — piazza games, bike rides, BBQs, and gospel conversations
- 3/3rds Bible Study — reading scripture with new relationships
- Church — participating in Chiesa Antiochia, a house church meeting in a bike shop
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Some college preferred
- A heart for evangelism and discipleship
- Flexible attitude
- Good relational skills
Important Details:
- This is a 4-week opportunity in June 2027.
- You will live in Catania, a city on the island of Sicily.
- Must complete a 6-session pre-field evangelism and discipleship training, along with each of the accompanying assignments, prior to arriving in Catania.
- You will be serving alongside participants from other sending organizations.
- Cost will be approximately $1,500 (not including travel expenses).
- This is a volunteer position that requires raising financial support through ministry partners.
