The Latin America region has a vision to transform lives in dynamic communities. You will serve in your area of focus while being part of localized summer ministry experiences. A team of missionaries will also pour into you as you learn more about your gifts and passions. Our hope for this experience is that you will grow in your relationship with God, expand your skill set, be more prepared to disciple people from other cultures, and perhaps discern a long-term call to missions and ministry.
This opportunity is in Loja, located in the Andes Mountains of southern Ecuador. There, you will serve alongside OMS missionaries and national partners. Your involvement will include serving in the local church and the prison ministry. Depending on your interests and abilities, you will have the chance to teach skills (such as baking, accounting, technology, knitting, crafts, etc.), teach English, tutor, work with children and youth, and participate in service projects. You will also have the opportunity to learn about HOPE61 (human trafficking prevention ministry) and possibly help with a training at a local church. (Your OMS hosts are the HOPE61 directors for Ecuador.)
During your time with Embark, you will serve with One Mission Society, build relationships with youth and young adults, receive mentorship from experienced missionaries, work alongside a team of other like-minded OMS interns, expand and hone your skill set, and grow in your ministry approach to evangelism, discipleship, and communicating your testimony.
Skills:
- High School diploma or GED required, some college preferred
- Intermediate Spanish is preferred but not required
- Being flexible around new people with whom you may not share much language compatibility or background similarities
- Comfortable sharing and talking with others
- Able to relax and have fun in varied environments
- Willing to serve in a variety of capacities
Important Details:
- This opportunity is April-May 2026 or July-August 2026.
- You will be staying in a missionary's home or similar rented facility in Loja, Ecuador.
- Cost is $4,500 (includes travel expenses).
- Our team in Ecuador has three primary ministry locations. This one (in the mountains), in Chongón (on the coast), and in Pallatanga (at a camp). If you are interested in a multi-location opportunity within Ecuador, please contact us for more details!
- This is a volunteer internship that requires raising financial support through ministry partners.
