General Ministry
Get StartedThe Latin America region has a vision to transform lives through dynamic communities. You will serve in your area of focus while being part of localized summer ministry experiences. Different missionaries will also pour into you as you learn more about your gifts and passions. Our hope for this experience is that you will grow in your relationship with God, expand your skill set, better understand cross-cultural ministry in a variety of contexts, be more prepared to disciple people from other cultures, and perhaps discern a long-term call to missions and ministry.
During your time with Embark, you will serve with One Mission Society, build relationships with youth and young adults, receive mentorship from experienced missionaries, work alongside other like-minded Christians, expand and hone your skill set, and grow in your ministry approach to evangelism, discipleship, missions, and communicating your testimony.
First Stop: Medellin, Colombia
Here, you will meet OMS ministry partners including Prison Fellowship, an international seminary, a flourishing denomination that continues planting churches throughout Colombia, and an organization (Satura Colombia) focused on evangelizing and discipling unreached people throughout the country, including the most vulnerable areas. You will work together as a team in Medellín, Colombia, helping facilitate a dynamic and engaging English camp for high school and university students. You will also have opportunities to visit prisons and families of prisoners, share Bible stories and activities with at-risk children impacted by poverty and/or incarceration, and engage in activities that include evangelism and discipleship, field trips within the city, educational support, and more.
Second Stop: Ecuador
Here, you will have the opportunity to serve alongside OMS missionaries and national partners in Pallatanga, in Loja, or BOTH!
Pallatanga: Lugar de Shalom, also known as Camp Pallatanga, is a camp in central Ecuador. The camp has a capacity of 120 campers and is used for many different ministries. The various ministries include church/youth retreats, training retreats, pastor retreats, and different activities of national churches. You will be working alongside groups or during retreats. You will also help with general maintenance and caring for the camp. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work in the community of Pallatanga through our local church. Potential activities include English classes, kids' programs, and service projects for the community.
Loja: Loja is located in the Andes Mountains of southern Ecuador. Your involvement will include serving in the local church and the prison ministry. Depending on your interests and abilities, you will have the chance to teach skills (such as baking, accounting, technology, knitting, crafts, etc.), teach English, tutor, work with children and youth, and participate in service projects. You will also have the opportunity to learn about HOPE61 (human trafficking prevention ministry) and possibly help with a training at a local church.
