Maintenance Coordinator

The Lord has blessed One Mission Society (OMS) in Greenwood, Indiana, with wonderful resources, including physical assets. This hands-on, ministry-minded person's role is to be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep, troubleshooting, and coordination of maintenance and repair needs across our 34-acre campus and 33 buildings. The ideal candidate has a servant's heart, solid practical skills, and the discernment to know when to handle repairs personally and when to bring in specialized contractors

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Must be knowledgeable and have basic skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, landscaping, and general construction work
  • Ability to operate a variety of construction and landscaping equipment
  • Solid communication skills required
  • Must have good people skills
  • Experience in supervising others required
  • Must be self-motivated and have ability to work independently
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Must have valid driver's license
  • Basic computer skills and capabilities with Microsoft Office
  • Active and maturing Christian faith; in full agreement with our statement of faith and committed to living out biblical values.
  • Broad working knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, etc.); formal trade schooling or certifications a plus.
  • Ability to safely operate power tools, lifts, tractors, and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and people skills; able to work well with staff, volunteers, contractors, and guests.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 75+ lbs and work in various weather conditions, on ladders, roofs, and in confined spaces.
  • Basic computer skills (email, work-order software, spreadsheets).
  • Willingness to be on-call for emergencies and live on-campus or within reasonable response distance (on-campus housing may be available).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and complete minor-to-moderate repairs in the following areas (as able and licensed):
    • Basic electrical (replacing outlets, switches, ballasts, minor wiring)
    • Plumbing (leaks, faucets, toilets, drains, water heaters)
    • Carpentry (doors, windows, drywall repair, framing, cabinetry)
    • Painting (interior and exterior)
    • HVAC (filter changes, minor thermostat/control issues, cleaning coils)
    • Roofing (minor patch repairs, gutter cleaning)
    • Grounds equipment maintenance (mowers, tractors, small engines)
  • Coordinate and supervise outside contractors and vendors for specialized, immediate work (electrical, HVAC, roofing, pest control, septic, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate records of all associated maintenance activities
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests (after-hours on-call rotation required).
  • In coordination with the Facilities Director, ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and insurance requirements.
  • Assist with setup and teardown for campus events, retreats, conferences, and ministry activities.
  • Perform preventative maintenance schedules for all facilities and equipment.
  • Collaborate with ministry leadership to plan and budget for upcoming repairs and capital improvements.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school graduate
  • College, Trade School, and/or certifications a plus

Other Details

  • Location: In-person at OMS headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana
  • Hours per week: 40 hours
  • Pay: $25 per hour
