Ecuador - Embark - Church Ministry

The Latin America region has a vision to transform lives in dynamic communities. You'll serve in your area of focus while being part of localized summer ministry experiences. You'll also be poured into by a team of missionaries as you learn more about your gifts and passions. Our hope for this experience is that you will grow in your relationship with God, expand your skill set, be more prepared to disciple people from other cultures, and perhaps discern a long-term call to missions and ministry.

Chonta Cruz Church is a church plant in Loja, Ecuador planted by OMS missionaries. You will primarily work with the children and youth of the church. You will be training local volunteers through crafts, songs, and techniques. Chonta Cruz also has a soccer ministry with the local youth that is growing but they want to expand the ministry. There will also be a chance to work in English tutoring and conducting an intensive course for home-schooled children. We are looking for two interns to help out with these various ministries over the summer.

While in Loja, Ecuador, you will be staying in the home of the OMS missionaries serving there. You will have a chance to work alongside them and see what daily missionary life is like. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside national workers in the church and see the transition of leadership to these workers.

Skills
  • High School diploma or GED required, some college preferred.
  • Flexible being around new people with whom you may not share much language compatibility or background similarities.
  • Comfortable sharing and talking with others.
  • Able to relax and have fun in varied environments.
  • Willing to serve in a variety of capacities.
Other Information
  • You will be serving from early-June to early-August.
  • You will be staying in a missionary's home in Loja, Ecuador near the church.
  • Cost is $4,000 (includes travel expenses).
  • This is a volunteer internship that requires raising financial support through ministry partners.
During your time with Embark you will serve with One Mission Society, build relationships with youth and young adults, receive mentorship from experienced missionaries, work alongside a team of other like-minded OMS interns, expand and hone your skill set, and grow in your ministry approach to evangelism, discipleship and communicating your testimony.

The application deadline for this opportunity in 2024 has passed. If you would like more information, please contact us.
