Preschool Teacher- Hungary

The Preschool Teacher shall manage and organize their classroom to best meet the needs of the students in their care. They will complete lesson plans and teach a biblically integrated curriculum. They shall communicate with parents regularly. They will profess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and be actively involved in a Christian church.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Academic Leadership
    • Submit lesson plans weekly to administration
    • Meet regularly with assistant teacher and other staff members to share ideas and ensure coordination of program
    • Provide input as needed for the school master calendar
    • Notify administrator when a substitute is needed, and provide any assistance needed to the substitute in order to successfully carry out their responsibilities
    • Seek and accept constructive evaluation of your own job performance
  • Spiritual Leadership
    • Reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity
    • Maintain high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in all personal and professional matters
    • Motivate students to accept God’s gift of salvation, and be a Christian witness and role model to them in order to help them grow in their faith
    • Lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities
    • Integrate biblical principles and the Christian worldview throughout the curriculum and activities
    • Teach curriculum as assigned following the prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the administration
    • Design lesson plans incorporating the monthly units and weekly themes
    • Complete bi-annual developmental assessments on each child to ensure milestone achievement
    • Individualize activities to meet the needs, goals, and abilities of each student based on their assessment results
    • Develop a daily classroom schedule incorporating times of group learning, individual instruction, teacher directed play, and child directed play
    • Creatively plan a classroom environment that reaches the needs of the whole child—spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional
    • Plan through approved channels the use of field trips, guest speakers, and other media for a balanced classroom
    • Implement a comprehensive classroom management plan
    • Work with administration and parents to develop and enforce behavior management plans as needed
    • Participate in formal and informal parent-teacher conferences
    • Communicate daily with parents through online reporting application
  • Job Complexities
    • Guard and maintain high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in all personal and professional matters
    • Be proactive and positive in dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff, and administration
    • Motivate students, staff, and parents to share God’s gift of salvation
    • Disciple students, staff, and parents to a realization of their self-worth in Christ
    • Ensure that all communication from the school is Christian-based, nurturing, wholesome, loving, and representative of our vision and mission
    • Carry out Christ-centered counseling with staff and families   

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand the importance of a small school and be willing to put forth extra effort as the school begins to grow and change. Flexibility is key.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity toward staff, parent, volunteers, and children, and an ability to interact effectively with them.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with courtesy, patience, friendliness, dignity, respect, and a good sense of humor. 
  • Make an effort to appreciate and understand the uniqueness of the community.
  • Place her or his school ministry ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities.

EDUCATION

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in early learning or related degree from an accredited postsecondary institution.

SKILLS and EXPERIENCE 

  • Ability to work with Hungarian colleagues to teach English to international students.
  • Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Christian philosophy of education.
  • Possess one year of experience teaching ages 1-6.

This is a support-based position that requires raising financial support through ministry partners for salary and related expenses.
