Colombia - Embark - English Ministry

The Latin America region has a vision to transform lives in dynamic communities. You'll serve in your area of focus while being part of localized summer ministry experiences. You'll also be poured into by a team of missionaries as you learn more about your gifts and passions. Our hope for this experience is that you will grow in your relationship with God, expand your skill set, be more prepared to disciple people from other cultures, and perhaps discern a long-term call to missions and ministry.

This Embark opportunity will be based at the Biblical Seminary of Colombia. You will work with an ESL/TESOL-certified Camp Director to design and prepare for 2-3 English language day camps for teenagers when their public schools are on vacation.

Responsibilities

• Design and prepare activities including spiritual, cultural, cooking, athletic, and team building.
• Help plan, teach and lead English lessons and activities (ESL/TESOL)
• Assist director in preparing for camp.
• Facilitate learning and recreational activities during day camps.
• Partner with an afterschool program working with younger children at the Seminary for spiritual, academic, recreational activities with elementary aged children after school.

Skills

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Basic level of ESL/TESOL experience is preferred.
• Some teaching experience is preferred.
• Flexibility engaging new people from different cultural backgrounds and languages.
• Comfortable sharing and talking with others.
• Able to relax and have fun in varied environments.
• Have some knowledge and experience working with the English and Spanish languages. 

Other Information

• You will be serving from mid-June to mid-August.
• You will live in Medellin, Colombia at the seminary or a rented apartment.
• Cost will be $5,000 (this includes travel expenses).
• This is a volunteer internship that requires raising financial support through ministry partners.

During your time with Embark you will serve with One Mission Society, build relationships with youth and young adults, receive mentorship from experienced missionaries, work alongside a team of other like-minded OMS interns, expand and hone your skill set, and grow in your ministry approach to evangelism, discipleship and communicating your testimony.
