Special Education Teacher Mozambique

Helping Hands Compassionate Outreach exists to mobilize and equip the church to creatively communicate the Gospel to individuals living with disabilities and their families. We are seeking a qualified special education teacher to join our team to help meet some ministry needs and to train volunteers and staff. Many Mozambicans who are living with a disability have limited or no access to education, so this role is critical in providing new opportunities for these individuals.

Helping Hands takes a holistic approach to expressing God’s love to those living with a disability and their families. We're looking for people with a passion to use their practical skills alongside being prepared to share the Gospel, reaching out to communities in Word and deed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Home visits to those living with a disability. These visits could include assessments of abilities and needs, one-one work with individuals and helping advise parents on learning activities they can be using in the home setting. We work with people who cover a very wide spectrum of disabilities.
  • Training volunteers in educational activities to utilize during in-home visits
  • In the future, we are hoping to have a dedicated outreach centre for those living with disabilities. We would love this to include classrooms for those children unable to receive education in the schools here. We would love an experienced special education teacher to oversee these classrooms and train up Mozambican teachers in this specialty.
  • Potential opportunities exist to visit partner churches in the center and north of the country to offer training and support as they seek to establish the Helping Hands Ministry there.
