Paul and Sylvia Cummings
Paul and Sylvia Cummings served in Spain as missionaries with One Mission Society for 31 years. Their multifaceted ministry included evangelism, discipleship, and teaching English.
After four years of serving as part of a pastoral team in Motril, Paul and Sylvia went to Madrid in 1990, where they were supervisors in the exciting Marriage Encounter program, interim camp director of the Rock of Horeb camp (Paul), director of the English ministries (Sylvia), and a new church project northeast of Madrid.
Currently, Paul and Sylvia serve with OMS as the regional ministry representatives for Arkansas.
Paul is a graduate of Asbury University with degrees in psychology and music. He received his master of divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1983. Before leaving for Spain, Paul served as a youth minister in Florida for 6½ years.
Sylvia graduated from Asbury University with a degree in elementary education and received her master’s degree in TESOL from Ball State University in 1999. Before joining OMS, she directed and conducted classes in a Christian preschool and taught piano. She also directed a children’s choir and worked with junior church and day camp.
They have two children, Heather and Ryan. Heather is married to Matthew Johnson, and they have a daughter, Elisa. Matthew is the executive pastor at Central United Methodist Church in Rogers, Arkansas. Ryan is a graduate of Asbury University and is living and working in Spain.
