Colombia Avocado Farm Youth Center
Our partners at Prison Fellowship have acquired a working avocado farm with a large ranch house that will be converted into a boys´ home for the rehabilitation of troubled youth. Prison Fellowship Colombia has worked many years in the prisons of Colombia and has recently begun working with youth in the area of restorative justice. The Colombia legal system is looking for alternatives to give youth offenders an opportunity for rehabilitation rather than simply sentencing them to detention centers. This new project creates an opportunity to offer the Gospel and holistic discipleship to transform young lives for the glory of God and the blessing of society.
Adolescents will be remanded to the youth center through the Colombia legal system as a Christian alternative. Trade skills will be taught and discipleship in Christian doctrine and life will be provided. The primary farmhouse will be converted into a dormitory for 10-15 boys, aged 14-18, and a host family that cares for and oversees the youth.
Funds are for the capital cost of conversion only, the project will then be self-sustaining for the operation of the ministry through state funds and through income from the cultivation and exportation of avocados and other micro-enterprises.
We need your help for an initial investment to remodel the farmhouse.
If you would like to commit to this project, please, give here.
God is already moving and working in Colombia in mighty ways. Will you help us transform this culture of violence in Colombia to a culture of future pastors and leaders?
