Bill and Diana Vermillion
Bill and Diana were introduced to One Mission Society through OMS missionaries. They served short term missions with OMS in the South Pacific and Russia. In 2000, they went to Russia for three years. Bill served as interim rector at Moscow Evangelical Christian Seminary and taught multiple courses. Diana taught a recurring health class at Russian American Christian University and also participated in several medical mission trips.
In addition to their work with OMS, Bill and Diana have visited mission fields in Brazil, Bolivia, Sweden, Japan and the Navaho Nation. Bill taught and facilitated seminars in inductive Bible study, holiness, pastoral Epistles and aspects of pastoral counseling. Diana taught with Bill occasionally and also did medical consulting.
Bill was born in Seattle, Washington, but moved frequently as he grew up in a military family. He served on active duty in the U.S. Army from 1968-1971 and in the reserves until 1980 as an infantry officer. Diana was also born in Seattle and lived in the area until she married Bill in 1968.
Diana committed her life to Christ at age five and has been active in church all her life, exercising leadership from her teen years on. She identifies her gifting as mercy, giving and intercessory prayer. Bill committed his life to Jesus at age 16 and has been active in a local church, conference and denomination since then. He is a retired ordained itinerant elder with The Evangelical Church where he has served as a pastor at two churches, one term as general superintendent and three years as a conference superintendent. Bill identifies his gifting as serving, teaching and administration done with a healthy dose of encouragement.
Bill did his academic studies at Washington State University (BA in English 1968 with High Honors), University of Washington (MA 1971, Ph.D. in comparative literature 1980), Western Evangelical Seminary (M.Div. in pastoral counseling 1976) and post-doctoral studies at the Institute for Holy Land Studies in 1984. Diana has bachelor of science degrees in nursing from Seattle Pacific University and the University of Washington in 1968 and an M.A. in counseling from Western Evangelical Seminary in 1978. She also did post graduate work at the Institute for Holy Land Studies in 1984.
Bill and Diana have done team teaching in various areas of pastoral counseling and facilitated marriage seminars. Bill has taught classes in Bible, textual criticism, inductive Bible study, Greek and pastoral ministry and counseling.
