Jay and Linda Six

Jay and Linda Six are retired One Mission Society missionaries. On June 30, 2018, Jay and Linda retired from OMS, but they continue to volunteer, ministering to the senior sojourners (retirees) of OMS.

While they were students at Asbury Theological Seminary, Jay and Linda spent the summer of 1977 under the OMS NOW Corps program, ministering to spiritually needy people in Haiti. In February 1982, they returned to Haiti as career missionaries. In 1984, OMS reassigned Jay to the Finance Department in Greenwood at the OMS World Headquarters. He served as the controller for 34 years. He also did the taxes for OMS missionaries and worked closely with outside auditors.

Jay graduated from West Virginia University in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, specializing in accounting. He also received a master of divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1978. As an ordained elder of the United Methodist Church, he has held pastorates in Michigan and Maryland.

Linda is a 1972 graduate of Asbury College with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She taught missionary children for OMS in Haiti (1972-73) and in Indonesia (1974-75). In 1978, she earned a master’s degree in religion from Asbury Theological Seminary, specializing in Christian education. Linda worked in the Human Resources Department as an administrative assistant, tracking OMS missionaries and monthly time-away benefits for OMS USA homeland missionaries. She also served as the mentor mom for the MUMS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group in her church.

Jay and Linda have four children: Charissa, Jeremiah, David, and Timothy. Charissa, Jeremiah, and Timothy are married; David lives at home. They also have 10 grandchildren.
