Michael Gearhart serves as a videographer in the Communications Department at One Mission Society headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana. He has a passion for good storytelling, and through video, he seeks to unite and inspire others with the hope of Jesus.
Michael graduated with a bachelor’s degree in video/film from Spring Arbor University in south-central Michigan. He found his passion in video by interning at One Mission Society for four summers during high school. Working under the supervision of Mark Dinnage (an OMS missionary now serving in Taiwan), Michael learned the “ins and outs” of editing and shooting, as well as countless other practical media skills while working at OMS headquarters.
Michael’s passion for video was solidified in college. No longer just a hobby to him, video became a concrete tool for sharing the Good News of Jesus. During his junior year, Michael traveled to India for three weeks for a cross-cultural study. Besides the parasite he brought home with him, he also gained a deeper passion for God’s people around the globe. In his last semester of college, he worked an internship and took classes in Los Angeles, California, in order to finish his degree. With refined skills and a greater understanding of the role God has in film, the Lord called Michael back to serve at OMS.
In addition to providing a great education experience, Spring Arbor was also where Michael met his future wife Morgan. They met during their freshman year and became very good friends. They eventually starting dating their senior year. Michael proposed in the spring of 2014, and they married at Morgan’s grandparents’ home in September 2014. Morgan graduated from Spring Arbor with a bachelor’s in global studies and a minor in psychology.
Living on the OMS headquarters campus, Michael and Morgan are excited for their journey with the One Mission Society community.
