Lydia’s call to homeland missionary work came unexpectedly but has been followed by excitement, confirmation, and a heavy dose of reliance on God. She graduated from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana, in May of 2018 with a bachelor of arts in English and a minor in journalism. She learned of the editor position opening less than a week after graduation and felt from the beginning it would be an excellent fit for her. The opportunity to use her passion and skill at a God-centered organization thrills her and seems a bit surreal.
Lydia continues to feel God pursuing her and growing her desire and need for him while also carving out mindsets and things in her life she has placed too much priority on. She values authenticity, vulnerability, and deep conversations. She is refreshed by the many God-loving and real people she encounters at OMS. She is grateful for two generous and loving parents, two wonderful older brothers and sisters-in-law, one adorable nephew, and one crazy cat.
Lydia thrives off a mixture of time with those she loves and time by herself journaling, visiting coffee shops, or singing as loudly as she can (in her car or otherwise). Music runs through her veins, and she has served on various worship teams throughout high school and college. She tends to process life through the written word (especially poetry), which correlates directly with her role as editor at the OMS World Headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana.
As editor, Lydia ensures the clear communication of God’s work as OMS missionaries and partners share their stories. She assists in researching and editing articles for OMS Outreach magazine and many other written publications such as social media posts and prayer letters. Lydia enjoys being an editor and using her “nerdiness” and love for grammar in a way that furthers the Gospel.
