How does the church progress?

How does the church progress?

The two legs shown below symbolize the church advancing. Her work has two activities: evangelizing unbelievers and building up believers.

The two legs must walk together, with good coordination and balance. Evangelizing unbelievers and building up believers should not be separated.

Doing one without the other leads to a lopsided church in which new believers fail to grow, and believers fail to win others to Christ.

As with the two legs of one body, the church evangelizes the world and builds up the believers.

To carry out these two duties, elders share practical tasks with church members, such as visiting and evangelizing, teaching new believers to obey the Lord’s commands, supporting missionary work, encouraging others, and helping the needy.
