Evangelistic Spirit Starts Young in Asia

July 23 2018

While I attended the 2018 OMS Illuminate Missions Conference in June, I spoke with numerous missionaries about their services on the field. One story was from an OMS missionary couple serving in Asia. J* and V* shared their story to show the power of God’s redeeming love for an 8-year-old girl.

J* told me about a ministry opportunity that her husband was a part of in Asia with a young girl who came to hear him speak in their session. The young 8-year-old girl felt the Holy Spirit’s presence in her heart and turned her life to Jesus that same day. When night came, she went to tell her grandfather of the Bible stories she heard and share the Gospel with him as well. According to J*, the grandfather loved the stories so much that he began to tell others about them.

As the weeks went on and as the young girl continued to attend the services from V*’s ministry, the grandfather continued to listen to the Gospel messages. One night, after hearing his granddaughter’s story from the service, he told her to invite V* to their home for a meal. He did, and the grandfather told the missionary that he wanted him to share with his friends the stories about Jesus. V* said he would need to come back another time, but the grandfather told him that his friends were already at the home waiting in another room.

V* was shocked to find more than 15 eager souls waiting for him to share the Gospel. That night, those patient and lost souls were changed forever as they all turned their hearts and lives to Christ! They all now attend the sessions of J* and V*.

Dynamic Women Sow Seeds Worldwide

June 6 2018

In the past couple of years, our Dynamic Women in Missions team has joined efforts with our Every Community for Christ church multiplication trainers to add a new dimension of training to the Dynamic Women's ministry to women around the world. Here are a couple of stories that show how joining efforts is reaping great rewards.

India

The training of the 120 pastor’s wives in India began with singing. We began the training as we always do, by dividing the women into groups to enhance their learning by sharing with each other. I noticed that the young women that led worship had not formed into a team, so we went over to encourage them to participate. Ruby was one of these young women. She was shy at first and waited until all of the pastor’s wives shared their findings first and then she shared with a confidence beyond her years.

Two days later, our team of 14 began ministering to the people in that area through a medical clinic. As part of the clinic, the last station the people stop is for someone from the church to share the plan of salvation and pray for them. When we asked the pastor of the church who would share the Gospel with the patients, Ruby volunteered. We praise God because Ruby was willing and able to do this due to the training she received. Ruby led nine people to the Lord in the two days of the medical clinic. This young woman was so encouraged by the lives she was able to help transform and all the team members rejoiced with her.

Tanzania

Angelina lives in an area of Tanzania impacted by multiple religions and witchcraft. Her life was characterized by fear until she attended the Seed Sowers training led by a joint ECC and Dynamic Women in Missions team. She left the training feeling empowered and confident to share the Gospel. God led her to share with a witch who lived nearby, so she fasted and prayed for three days before approaching her. The woman untied her dog so it could bite Angelina. Still determined, she prayed more and returned. The husband accepted Christ, at which point he dramatically passed out, and the witch began vomiting. It was a troubling experience for Angelina because the woman also tried to kick Angelina and attack her with a knife when the son wanted to follow Jesus. Ultimately, the entire family accepted Christ, and the witch burned her idols and witchcraft paraphernalia. This act drew a crowd, and many others in the community accepted Christ and now attend church. Angelina, as a living stone, leads an I Am Second Bible study for these new believers.
