I know what the Bible says because I listen to Radio 4VEH

June 30 2015

In the 1960s, the team at Radio 4VEH, One Mission Society’s radio ministry in Haiti, realized that most people across Haiti did not have a radio receiver to listen to Radio 4VEH. So, they began the ministry’s first distribution campaign of radios fix-tuned to Radio 4VEH. About 2,000 radios were assembled by a team of engineers and given out to communities, sharing the message of Jesus and reinforcing community development.

Communities would listen to the radio together; in many villages, coming around the radio to listen to a church service was the first time they had church in those villages, and many churches were planted as a result. But these bulky units needed frequent battery replacement. Today, as part of the Resounding Hope initiative, we give out solar-powered radios (now also with audio Bible in Haitian Creole) as part of evangelism and outreach alongside local churches, connecting families in need with daily hope and help from Radio 4VEH.

Did you know:

  • 4 in 5 people in Haiti live in poverty, surviving on less than $2 a day?
  • 4 in 5 adults in Haiti cannot read or write well enough to cope with daily life?

Many Haitians live without reliable electricity and can’t afford to buy a radio or replace batteries. That’s why we give out solar-powered, hand-held radios fix-tuned to Radio 4VEH, with an audio New Testament in Haiti’s mother tongue, Haitian Creole. Each radio reaches about six people every day with a message of hope and help.

“I’m 65 years old. I can’t even write my name. But I know what the Bible says because I listen to it on Radio 4VEH”

Radio 4VEH has been serving God and the Haitian people since 1950; we celebrated our 65th anniversary on June 2.

How to help:

1. One of the best ways to reach, teach, and serve the people of Haiti is as a monthly donor to Radio 4VEH. Monthly donors provide steady, reliable funds that help take care of regular expenses to produce and broadcast radio programs that make a lasting difference in listeners’ lives. Your support every month will transform lives, one listener at a time.

A monthly gift of $25 will sponsor a 30-minute radio program. Become a 4VEH monthly donor today by clicking here for #469960.

2. We’re at a critical time of year at Radio 4VEH, when donations are often well below regular monthly expenses. Your partnership is urgently needed to help raise $54,000 this summer so that life-transforming radio programs continue to reach people with the Gospel. Would you pray and consider how you can help? Make your donation today at: https://onemissionsociety.org/give/radio-4veh.

trategic prayer requests:

Equipment is a constant challenge at Radio 4VEH. From generators that provide electricity every day to internet service that allows us to reach Haitians online, from computers that record and broadcast programs to the air-conditioning in the building that keeps people and equipment functioning when it’s 100 degrees outside. Please pray for the Lord’s hand on our equipment, for those who maintain and fix the equipment when parts are not easily available, and for funds needed to replace critical equipment this year (computers, air conditioning).

Staff: Many of our staff serve as pastors and lay-leaders of their local churches and outreach ministries, in addition to their roles at Radio 4VEH. Please pray for the Lord to bless them, their families, churches and ministries, and to strengthen and encourage them in their daily roles at Radio 4VEH.

Radio 4VEH Celebrates 65th Anniversary

June 2 2015

65th Anniversary: 2 June 1950 - 2 June 2015

By Storly Michel, Station Director, Radio 4VEH

It’s a really special week: we’re celebrating the 65th anniversary of Radio 4VEH and inviting listeners, supporters, and friends to join with us in our anniversary theme: Praise the Lord, let everything that has breath, praise the LORD!

Among the celebrations are:

  • Worship services in honor of 4VEH’s 65th anniversary in Cap-Haitien and among the Haitian evangelical community in New York
  • A soccer match between two top teams in Cap-Haitien (Haitians love soccer!)
  • And we’re launching a new ministry, long-requested by our listeners - 4VEH TV - on a local TV station in Cap-Haitien

On the air, a series of special programs this week includes many calls and comments from listeners—and their stories are thanks to the prayers, financial support, work, and encouragement of so many people who are a part of Radio 4VEH ministry. What better way for us to celebrate together than to share some testimonies from our listeners, for the glory of God and the encouragement of his people.

As we thank God for 65 years, we fix our eyes on the task ahead, as we continue to serve God and the Haitian people as the Evangelistic Voice of Haiti. Happy 65th Anniversary!

Radio 4VEH Receives NRB Milestone Award

February 18 2014

Radio 4VEH Receives NRB Milestone Award

Praise the Lord with us for all He is doing in and through the ministry of Radio 4VEH in Haiti. We are excited to announce that Radio 4VEH, OMS' Christian radio station in Cap Haitien, Haiti, will receive another prestigious award this year.

The National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Association announced that Radio 4VEH, The Evangelistic Voice of Haiti, will be honored with a Milestone Award at the annual NRB convention later this month.

The Milestone Awards are presented annually to ministries with more than 50 years of continuous ministry in Christian broadcasting. This year, Radio 4VEH is celebrating 64 years of serving God and the Haitian people through radio. Radio 4VEH is one of five ministries to receive a Milestone Award at a ceremony on February 25, 2014, at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

This is the second time that Radio 4VEH has been honored by the NRB. Last year, Radio 4VEH was named NRB International Radio Ministry 2013, for "excelling in radio or audio ministry, exercising integrity and faithfulness to the cause of Christ, while demonstrating unusual effectiveness in impacting the target culture with the Gospel."

OMS missionary and station manager, Rev. Storly Michel (a Haitian), will receive the award on behalf of Radio 4VEH and One Mission Society.

Exciting New OMS Radio Ministry

September 6 2013

Exciting New OMS Radio Ministry

One Mission Society is beginning a new radio ministry. You will be able to hear incredible missionary stories on the radio (also through web streaming at www.freedom95.us and on our OMS website: www.onemissionsociety.org/radio, with all the stories archived).

Meet the host of the show, OMS missionary Jason Campbell, through this introduction.

The first program airs Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at 7 p.m. Each new show will be uploaded to our website by the following Monday. We currently are committed to one year of one-hour missionary stories.

Here’s a short snippet of our first program, which highlights the ministry of OMS UK missionary, Bill Anderson.

Pray with us that the Lord blesses us, and all the work yet to be completed, in this new venture—that He will be glorified. And please share this news with your friends by forwarding this blog to them or sharing it on Facebook or Twitter. We are counting on you to help us promote this new project. We are so excited about what God is going to do through this!
